Final Fantasy XIII is told in two worlds; Cocoon, safe, isolated and civilized, and Pulse, dangerous, wild, and diseased. Cocoon was created by supernatural beings, the fal’Cie, where tens of millions of people live out their lives, away from the dangers of the world below. The fal’Cie, or Crystals, reside in Pulse but have designed the advanced society of Cocoon as the ultimate home for humanity.
